Dua Lipa — Illusion + Radical Optimism

I'm loving the "extended" versions of her singles so far, I'm convinced they are the original versions and make you appreciate the songs more; they truly show how many ideas had to be left out to make it more Tiktok friendly for this short-span generation but the longer ones make room for the track to breathe, they're amazing. and I can't believe they're sleeping on the fact of how many great artists are producing them, for example, I had no idea Training Season was co-written by Dragonette.

Her PR team has to turn around the whole Massive Attack narrative and mention Tame Impala a bit more, Kevin Parker is doing an absolutely fabulous job. Dua UP!
OBSESSED with this LOON POST! it could've come straight from my own archive. or equally be a Dua Lipa Hungary tweet.

I did not notice the Martina credit! Good for her.

I agree about the extended versions. The Illusion one is the version I have saved.

this debuted at #60 on Billboard and nobody's talking about it, why do people hate FUN and DANCE so much? 💀

I think, at no fault of her own, the FN era lasted ages and anything after that has been on the same lane so it’s not like there’s any WOW to it.

I think the new music just isn’t catchy/memorable enough. I love Training Season but most don’t, and the other 2 are fine

The public seems to love Espresso so I don’t think it’s because they don’t want anything fun

It’s like a B-sides album to be honest. Songs that are ok but not good enough for the last album.

If Dua Lipa is one of the most influential people in the world, what do we call Massive Attack as influencers of the influencer?

EMPERORS OF THE UNIVERSE?

Video is great after seeing it last night.

Shame the song has no tune but can’t win them all.

It's hard to trust the creative direction of this album, based on the nasty choice of Chocolonely type -

She's taking TRAINING DAY quite literally :D She looks like she's just about to announce a 'tea and coffee comfort break' at MANDATORY ALL DAY training in MILTON KEYNES. But come back in ten minutes OR ELSE, she will START and she will not help late comers in the QUIZ AT THE END!!

It's about the right aesthetic, based on the last couple of singles which sound so very designed-by-playlist-committee

Dua's campaign of three singles pre-album followed by an eleven track album months later seems very anti-climatic in the age of T-Swift, Billie doing the opposite. I fear the album's momentum will be gone after release week, but hope I'm proven wrong.

Yeah the album seems dead in the water at this point. I wonder if anything is going to pull her out of this slump.

There's momentum?

There's little doubt she'll get a #1 but I can see her dropping back very quickly unless there's an obvious banger a streaming audience gets behind.

It was always going to be near impossible to top the one-two punch of "Don't Start Now" and "Physical". They were so strong and relaunched her as a top tier popstar whilst also being two completely different styles of song. It set up that era perfectly in terms of what to expect from the album.

I don't mind Houdini or Training Season but that's the problem, "not minding" just means I'm happy for them to be passively there, I'd rarely seek them out. They sound like album tracks.
