Kate Bush Deep Cuts playlist sync

No I promise it wasn’t! :D I had a bubble friend coming over to stay the night and they wanted to come over at 7, I rearranged it for 9:30 so I wouldn’t miss this and then they took it upon themselves to turn up at 8 :)

Don’t have real life friends people, they ruin everything.

Omg I'm touched that you rearranged a real life thing to attend, even if you were foiled! 😍

I think I'm just going to to turn up at her house and demand she sings Aerial back-to-back for me alone. I won't threaten her or anything, I'm sure she'll make me a nice cup of tea and, upon hearing my reasons, will deliver.

She will be free to call the police after, I'm fine with that.
I can't see any problem with this whatsoever. She'll probably even invite you in for tea. Just be careful you don't fall into the sea when you're on her eroding cliff edge

I was feeling a bit GLUM earlier, so I'm listening now, and looking forward to reading @Iguana (and everyone else's) insights as I do so!

Ooh yes. I'd love her take on WAP from the perspective of a fly trapped inside the WAP.

Also if you're looking for covers, you may like her 2005 cover of Sexual Healing because she says "sexual" quite a lot in it (but be warned it's not very popular among the fanz)

Covering Heights (The Kate Bush Versions)

2. WAP (Cardib (39))

7. Hounds of Love (The Futureheads)
8. Pass the Dutchie (Musical Youth)
9. My Neck, My Back (Khia)
10. If That Were Me (Menly C)

The Hounds of Love cover, which sees Kate covering the Futureheads covering Kate, consists of Kate learning the song backwards, recording the backwards vocal and then reversing it again.

I'm seeing far too much Violin slander in this topic. It's one of my favourites :o

Damn, I missed this.

Kate Bush, what a woman, etc. Her tribute to this beautiful man in the Moments of Pleasure video just another moment rippling through space and time to cleanse you with her kindness.

@RJN I've seen people say that The Red Shoes (the album) was considered to be quite American-influenced so I'm wondering whether there's a link between that and you particularly enjoying the Red Shoes songs! Something in the production, I think. On the other hand, you like UK music too so maybe I'm just clutching at straws

Hmm I do tend to prefer British music to American in general, but maybe that is why I'm finding it more easily accessible and immediate

I’ve been out socialising two days on the trot so I need some hem of anorak.

Picking up where I left off!

How To Be Invisible :disco:

Probably my favourite song from A Sea of Honey.

Is that the wind from the desert song?
Is that the autumn leaf falling?
Or is that you walking home?
Is that a storm in the swimming pool?

Moving.

The SHOCK of going from older Kate voice to younger Kate voice :D!

It's astounding how mature and developed (:ken:) the songs on the debut are. A genius freak of nature to be able to produce songs like these at such a young age.

L'Amour Looks Something Like You

This one sounds very 70s, compared to some of the rest of the debut album, which live in that timeless world of Kate that most of her stuff resides in.

I'm dying for you just to TOUCH ME

Symphony in Blue

The contrast of the soaring chorus and the lyrics :D

My terrible fear of dying
No longer plays with me,
for now I know that I'm needed
For the symphony...

I very rarely listen to Lionheart but this is a CUTE button of a song.

THE DRUMS of RUTH always get me in a FRENZY :disco:

The original is so embedded that this always sounds a bit MESSY to me, especially the way they fuck with the second verse and miss out my favourite line

OOH THERE IS THUNDER IN OUR HEARTS :disco:

STUNNED that you included Among Angels slap bang in the middle of this :D

It really is a BEAUTY of a song, the swell of the music behind the piano. Gorgeous.

Rest your weary world in their hands
Lay your broken laugh at their feet

Wedding List is a classic BOP and one of the very best of Kate's STORIES.

Kill Bill NEVER COULD. :disco:

With his red still wet...

SHE SAID

I'LL PUT HIM ON THE WEDDING LIST

Delius is SUCH A MOOD. It's an aural feast and yes the pure musical form of hot summer nights.

It did come with a health warning 😄 I agree it was a brave and daring choice of mine

It almost feels CRIMINAL to hear anything from A Sky of Honey by itself :o

A sky of honey
Keep us close to your heart
So if the skies turn dark
We may live on in
Comets and stars

The way this one just builds and builds, her mumbly vocals, the picture she creates and then

the

SECOND HALF :disco:

Just absolute perfection. Might as well stop making music now because it doesn't get better than THIS.

Anything from The Dreaming leaves me shaking to the core. The sparseness in the production chills me to the bone every time and Leave It Open is no exception.

I kept it in a cage
Watched it weeping, but I made it stay
(But now I've started learning how)
I leave it open

:disco:

When I was in college I had to make a soundscape for an assignment and mine was about somebody losing their faith in religion and I used bits of Waking The Witch :disco:

The contrast of the sleepy voices at the start and then the urgency of her trial used to really scare me when I was younger and I always skipped the majority of this song :D

I think @RJN was genuinely scared last week!

Love that you incorporated Kate into your college work. One of my school reports for English references the fact that I wouldn't shup up about Kate Bush all term :D

It was years before I actually listened to the lyrics of Watching You Without Me and got the meaning of the song. The way she uses her vocal to portray what's happening makes it one of the scarier songs she's done.

There's a ghost in our home
Just watching you without me

:(

Song of Solomon is the kind of Red Shoes song that REALLY works. Just stunningly seductive.

It's strange to hear Kate sing so plainly about break-ups - the mundane details like going to pick up your things. It's what makes You're the One so heartbreaking - it cuts to the core of it all and shows us some of Kate's vulnerability, which is what makes The Red Shoes such a unique album to me.

We've tied ourselves in knots
Done cartwheels across the floor
Just FORGET IT
