The thing is, does one individual song count for album streams? As that would explain the ridiculous overdominance of Merry Christmas (though, of course, there are other reasons why that would pick up play, granted) and I would say Daydream has by far the more memorable/ playlisted singles than Butterfly- surely Fantasy, Always Be My Baby and One Sweet Day would get comparatively loads of streams than Honey, Butterfly and My All, for example...

Unless my theory is entirely wrong, that is :D

Mariah has written and recorded the theme tune to a new spin-off from the sitcom black-ish called mixed-ish. The song is called "In The Mix".

She's signed a $12 million deal to be the new face of Walker's Chips lol they're doing a whole All I Want for Christmas campaign.

Apparently the Spice Girls were doing it before? And Mariah is getting paid more than all of them did put together.

The way the charts are at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if the OCC started counting crisp packets as SALES.
 
So we are getting a new song at the end of the month called In The Mix, for some tv show.
 
Not too impressed, but it's alright. The half-hearted "Yaaaaaaaay US!" bits are terrible.
 
I'm really liking it. Can totally see the kinda thing they were going for, especially for a TV show.

What is she sampling though?
 
OMG I love her vocals. She hardly ever sings in this register anymore. She's serving straight-up mid 90s vocals in places! The song is not bad at all, a nice enough curio.

god I always forget about Billy On The Streets but when I get reminded he exists I'm a very happy bunny. I might BINGE some random clips later on, the Meryl Streep movies episode was gold.
 
The Pitchfork review of the Merry Christmas reissue describes Mariah as 'The cultural attaché of Christmas', which I think is a rather fabulous descriptor. :disco:

She's part of some kind of Christmas 'residency' on the J*mes C*rden Show in the run up to Christmas, and will be performing All I Want For Christmas Is You, Christmas Time Is In The Air Again, Oh Santa! and Obsessed :D:D
