Maxi Jazz, the lead singer of dance group Faithless, has died at 65.

They're not wrong. Without Maxi Jazz, they were making campy gay house, which while fine was mostly pretty faceless and not ready for the top 5. He absolutely gave them identity.

He was the SOUL of the group. Like you say, they could tend towards cheese - he was the grit in the machine.They managed to straddle the line between high octaine 90s dance and indie credibility because of Maxi.
Fun if not somewhat obvious fact, when they found him, he was a STREET POET.
Same. GuttedI have never seen Faithless live, one of my true regrets, especially now. I am told they were sensational.
I loved this album very much. also Bombs, To All New Arrivals. its a great political (but not heavy handed) house record.Music Matters is also an absolute gem
