Sunak says he will stand up to “this woke nonsense” that wants to cancel “our values our history.”

I genuinely think we're living in the 1970s.

Record breaking summer... check
Spiraling inflation... check
Mass strikes... check
Bins overflowing in the streets (of scotland)... check
Cost of living going up the shitter... check
Ruinous female Conservative leader just around the corner... check.

Let's hope this one lasts less than 11 years :(

And if not, at least Tony Blair's replacement landslide victory will be due in 2039.

Can’t wait to be able to drive down a country lane at 100mph :disco:

He's even more pathetic than she is. We know Truss is a thoroughly below average politician playing Thatcher cosplay. Sunak was capable of much more but he has debased himself in every way possible to appeal to the Tory base - and he isn't even going to come close to winning.

In a week or so the victor is going to have to speak to the entire country - a country where the governing party is polling sub-30%, there is broad support for industrial action, and the nationalisation of public utilities / infrastructure. It is going to be fascinating.

Surely we'll have GE sooner rather than later? As soon as the first cold spell kicks in after the next rate rise on utilities people are going to be fucking furious.

Why would Truss call an election she knows she won't win though? I think the Tories will probably just batten down the hatches, knowing that any election now would see dozens of them losing their jobs.

Absolutely. There's no chance of them calling a GE, whatever happens. They're going to ride this out and hope the tide turns. We're going to have to suffer this GRIM for a LONG TIME YET.

All we can do is continue to protest and do the good work as enlightened and yes, WOKE citizens and residents and REFUGEES of this country. Fuck them

The irony is he probably felt much more like he was debasing himself with furlough and all that than he does NOW.

Based on them having absolutely no solution to the myriad of crisii around the corner and the masses of protests and strikes already brewing, I imagine its inevitable

She'll be less popular than May. As PM, May was given the impossible puzzle to solve: do Brexit whilst making everyone involved happy. She shares with May an awkwardness, a stiltedness, a feeling of not really believing in what she's doing. Johnson was such a liar and a populist that he didn't have that - his entirely unjustified self-confidence was appealing to some.

Of course, May was the architect of the Hostile Environment and her behaviour around Grenfell was despicable. Add that to giving the DUP a ton of cash and she is not being rehabilitated on my watch, don't you worry.

Agreeing to look at MOTORWAY SPEED LIMITS is case in point.

She's a weird awkward people pleaser, who's only purpose is a power grab.

...which she is too weak to enforce.

The whole thing is going to fall to bits by the end of October and Rishi will be sat in a posh apartment in the US with a job heading the Soylent Green division at Trump & Nazi Bank Inc laughing his arse off, the prick.
