TV Ratings 2024

It was charging. I'm trying to be good and let it run low, rather than flying into a panic every time it drops below 50%.

Surprised Red Eye opened with that and Passenger mustered something like 3m

I do like anything on a plane though!

Nice to see Blue Lights up there too

I guess Red Eye was always going to do well. Big thriller with a recognisable tv lead and also coming off those apparently very popular Harlen Coben Netflix shows. Passenger was more quirky fare.

Also pleased to see Blue Lights performing well. Considering they have ordered two more series I imagine the BBC will be too.

April 22 - 28

01 Britain's Got Talent 6.864m
02 Red Eye 6.450m
03 Beyond Paradise 5.514m

06 Blue Lights 4.414m
07 Coronation Street 4.380m
08 Have I Got News For You 4.144m
09 Emmerdale 3.925m
10 EastEnders 3.866m

17 Professor T 3.057m
18 The Repair Shop 2.847m
19 The Piano 2.799m
20 Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr 2.737m

I enjoy Interior Design Masters, so I'm pleased to see it sneak into the top 20. I wish they'd make it a slightly longer series, though. Eight episodes always make it feel a bit something and nothing.

4 episodes of Baby Reindeer made the top 50 shows:

2.751m episode 1
2.546m 2
2.458m 3
2.416m 4

So is that the same episodes charting across different weeks?! Is that quite rare?

There was a weird flex by the continuity announcer on STV before the 1% club on Saturday gone

“5.9m sounds like it could be the answer to a question on the 1% club but it’s actually how many people are watching”

Nice one 👍🏻

Yes. And yes.

I'm not sure how often it has happened but I'm quite sure it is rare. Most weeks Netflix/Prime/Disney don't get anything in the top 50.

The most notable time I can remember is when Glass Onion got 6.739m in its first week and 5.268m in the second.

As a comparison, earlier this year, all 8 episodes of Fool Me Once charted and got between 3.552m and 6.342m in week one. But none charted in week two.

I haven’t watched a single episode of Blue Lights and need to rectify this. I am assuming it’s right up my street?

Still great overnight figures for Eurovision in the current climate.

Does that mean they were on iplayer before they were shown on BBC1 last night?
Yes. Plus Doctor Who always does well on catch up, AND it was great weather across much of the country. I wouldn't pay much attention to those overnight figures at all.

If Eurovision follows last year in terms of the final 7 day figure, we should be looking at just over 8m.

I'd expect to see it double and then some, yes.

It is certainly a programme that seems to go through peaks and troughs. I don’t watch it, as sci fi isn’t really my bag but if it does pull in around 5 million then it’s still a respectable figure.

17 Countryfile 3.013m
18 Professor T 3.000m
19 Antiques Roadshow 2.981m
20 The Repair Shop 2.904m

That's all four episodes of Clarkson's Farm which dropped on Prime getting between 3.860m and 5.197m.

And EastEnders finally overtaking Emmerdale.

How did Corrie not make the shortlist of nominees at the TV BAFTAs yesterday? Only Emmerdale, Eastenders and Casualty. Casualty won. :o

Not great for The Responder. Obviously not helped starting opposite a mid-run Red Eye.

May 6 - 12

19 Clarkson's Farm (series 3, episodes 1- 4) 2.493m
20 Beat The Chasers 2.361m

That's got to be very disappointing for Doctor Who. I fully imagined it would top 5m after iPlayer data was added.

I've split Clarkson's Farm into the episodes which dropped in this week, and those which dropped the week before, and also charted last week. So that means that the first four episodes now have a total average of 6.997m.

That is super low for Doctor Who. I did think that the overnight figure was especially low but did assume it would pick up more viewers on catch up.

Shocked at the amount of programmes getting below 3 million making the chart now too.The bottom figure has been getting increasingly low, but that seems like a lot of programmes under 3 mill.

Yes, I thought that as well. Viewing always is higher in winter, but it's hardly balmy summer evenings yet, is it?

8 programmes under 3m in this week. For the corresponding week last year it was 6. In 2022 it was 4. And in 2021, there weren't any.

Was The Responder not super successful for the first series?

Feels like The Tourist series 2 where it didn’t really pick up either.

Yeah those Doctor Who figures are low but it’s all relative really isn’t it? It’s still the no.7 tv show of the week (and are some people watching on Disney+ or is it not out on that here?)

No, it's only on Disney+ outside of the UK. BBC only in the UK.

And yes, it is still the #7 show of the week, but I can't help but think they will be disappointed with the lowest season opener and second lowest episode (only Legend Of The Sea Devils fared worse) since the revival.
