"Strut" is just perfect really, even the dated video.
 
I remember seeing Sheena Easton at a gig in Glasgow... she ended up being bottled off the stage. :( Saying that though, "Sugar Walls" is one of my favourite pop songs EVA. Must give it a listen soon. :disco:

I had a mini Sheena day at the weekend, as in "Telefone" "Sugar Walls" and the extended version of "Strut" that was almost too :disco:

Can someone put this "101" inside Sheena's sugar walls please??

You might be on to something there. I still rate the pure filth of Vanity 6 very highly indeed though but clearly they wouldn't have had a fat rat's chance of tackling anything as ridiculous as 101.

Frozen, I'll pop it by the 99 candles around Sheena's bed.
 
I might bite and get the remastered parent album. I have the original issue so I've never bothered but it's feeling MORE and MORE essential after this thread...
 
I wonder if I should plump for it too. I've had the original album for TWENTY ONE years now and it still gets plenty of spins :disco:

I found another blog the other day which had absolutely loads of Sheena albums. Every day new ones were posted, I quite lost track of what was what in the end. I didn't know the old bat was so prolific back in the day.
 
The remaster is worth it for the Morales Mix of 101, although I presume you'll already have that...

Believe me, if they could, they would have...it's certainly the most sought after of her works...
 
I'm actually quite dubious as to whether a danced up version is going to do the sheer drama of the original any justice at all. I'm quite intrigued!

It very much retains the dark moodyness of the original. An Almighty mix it is NOT! (Although that could be fun too...)

I'm glad Almighty didn't get their hands on it, I've quite grown out of them these days. Dreadful stuff.
 
Oh yes, 101 is truly a marvel. It's always been a fave of mine.. and that very early Morales mix is sensational - kinda different to Almighty, lol. I knew this was something of an underground dance classic and it's been a favourite mp3 discovery of mine since way back.

I'm not sure about the Lover In Me as an album though.. the title track is not the BEST late 80s LA & Babyface had to offer, pretty generic. It's no PEBBLES or KARYN WHITE.

The couple of mp3s I have from it "Cool Love" and "Fire And Rain" are nice enough, but the rest of the album is meant to be shyt. I agree with SHEENA of course that her masterwork A PRIVATE HEAVEN is the one to get.

"101" is probably the best song Prince gave her. Sugar Walls is great of course but is very Teena Marie "Lovergirl". She also had an earlier flop single "Eternity" which is alright but not great by Prince standards.
 
I haven't got "A Private Heaven". I didn't realise it was so well regarded, I must investigate.

The Lover In Me is patchy but I do love it for its late 80s madness. The title track, "No Deposit, No Return" are all more than worthy of a spin though.
 
Well it's the presumptive best based on Strut and Sugar Walls, with her jettisoning her dull MOR image for a new punk slut look ripped off wholesale from Madonna :disco:
 
There's four or five STONE COLD SOLID GEMS on "The Lover In Me", absolutely so...
