Footage shows him looking QUITE DISHEVELLED and clutching a GORE VIDAL BOOK while being dragged into a police van.

Can't get happy about it while Chelsea Manning is still incarcerated.

GOOD. He's not a political prisoner. He's an entitled twat who subverted the law because he didn't want to have to answer questions about some sexual assaults, costing a ridiculous amount of taxpayers money in the process.

Chelsea Manning has spent years in prison already though so at least she is prepared for the reality of it.

Assange on the other hand...

NO, Ellie dear, they finally got bored of him TAKING THE PISS.

By the way, as a long time supporter of him, what's your take on the Jacko case?

I assume your silence will be GOLDEN.

Regardless of his own politics, Julian Assange has done way more for journalism than all of the mouth-breathing liberal listicle writers making fun of him for looking like an old man. As I said before, most of these people's beliefs are formed from aesthetics, they have no convictions.

He was expelled from the embassy because America, the great Satan, has clearly ramped up the pressure on a more receptive, right-wing Ecuadorian leader to remove him, all so he can be extradited and locked up like Chelsea Manning. The UK taking such an active role in handing him over is embarrassing.

Trump: WikiLeaks 'not my thing'
Donald Trump, who frequently praised WikiLeaks during the 2016 presidential campaign, whose son exchanged messages with the organization on Twitter, and whose associate Robert Stone communicated with Assange about material WikiLeaks planned to publish, has just told US reporters that WikiLeaks is “not my thing.”

“I know nothing about WikiLeaks,” Trump said in the Oval Office, according to a White House pool report. “It’s not my thing.”

With the United States having requested Assange’s extradition to face criminal charges, the WikiLeaks’ founder’s stock is currently low in Washington. But it wasn’t always so. Here’s a video of Trump on the stump going on and on (and on) about WikiLeaks:

WikiLeaks was so popular inside the Trump camp during the campaign that they worked under a poster of Assange...

Hard to overstate the Trump campaign's enthusiasm for Julian Assange. I was backstage at Debate #2 and they literally had an Assange fanboy poster on the wall https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-27/inside-the-trump-bunker-with-12-days-to-go …

...and Sean Hannity, Trump’s main cheerleader inside Fox News (and on the stump), offered to let Assange host his radio show.

Just a few examples of Trump tweets that mention Wikileaks:

The challenge with Assange is that whilst he unquestionably did some good things, he has subsequently acted like a prize-winning cock, throwing Chelsea under a bus, hiding from rape allegations and being pro-Trump. He's basically the Morrissey of modern politics.

Yeah, I had time for him up until the point it became clear he was trying to get Trump elected.

Actually no, the rape allegations were before that, weren’t they. Up until THAT point.

IIRC, the batting order is rape allegations, Chelsea abandoned and then Trump.

Which explains why Pamela Anderson is so chummy with him.

I'm not especially surprised that Assange wanted to stop Hillary from becoming president. Eight years of the supposed good guys who were going to change everything actually reinforcing American imperialism, carrying out mass surveillance and drone striking weddings is hardly going to make you support someone massively involved in that. At least Trump briefly pretended to be anti-war on the campaign.

This shouldn't be seen as a referendum on Assange himself anyway, it's clearly a massive over-reach based on the actual legal details. He's not getting extradited because Trump is concerned about a dismissed sexual assault claim, it's because both sides of American politics want to shut down any anti-imperialist or anti-war voices.

Disgusting man, thank god it finally happened - here's hoping the Swedes put him on trial now

Is this a parody account?

I never said I believed him, and his foreign policy in office has been the same as any other Republican (aside from North Korea), but he quite clearly said a number of nominally anti-war things on the campaign.

The problem with American empire goes way beyond Trump, although I honestly thought that his presence would inspire liberals to examine imperialism as a reaction. Instead, there's virtually bipartisan support for the coup in Venezuela, people agitating for war with Russia and a trillion-dollar military budget.

You also have to remember that at this point, Hillary had facilitated a disastrous coup in Honduras, pushed through regime change in Libya that led to open-air slave markets and was proudly running as a continuation of Obama-era foreign policy. She was the architect of that, it was a massive weak spot for her.

I'm not defending Trump. I'm trying to explain why someone like Assange, who has spent years sifting through records of vast human misery caused by Hillary and Obama's foreign policy, might not support them.

The fact is that it will take decades of sustained political change to dismantle American imperialism. Even President Bernie would only be a small step away from it. Neoconservatives have completely taken over US foreign policy since 2001, repeatedly using the same authorisation for military force that passed after 9/11, and there is very little resistance to that on either side. Having to rely on an addled idiot like Trump to hear the most basic anti-war platitudes during the 2016 campaign says it all.

I know, but... foreign policy isn't the only aspect of being POTUS. Either Assange has/had some sort of tunnel vision obsession with that one issue, or he agrees with Trump on other things too.

He certainly agrees with Trump on reproductive rights...

Actually fuck it, why sugar it - Assange sure loves grabbin' 'em by the pussy.
