NOT that I'd ever suggest the results are anything less than 100% ABOVE BOARD! :eyes:

It would obviously be near-impossible to rig the entire results of the contest in 2021, but a scan of the immense amount of data offered up when the results are released often flag up a few HMMMMM moments. I've seen a few mentioned on here already if anybody fancies expanding.

The STUNNING SUCCESS of Moldova is the obvious one :hostage:, especially with Philipp Kirkorov being behind the entry - but Natalia did seem to pick up enough points to suggest there were probably quite a few genuine votes in the mix also. Similarly Greece's entry had ties to Kirkorov and could also possibly be accused of over-performing in the final.

It doesn't have to be just this year either - I recall when Azerbeijan still cared about the contest there was some pretty SERIOUS accusations about voting manipulation, something I think Malta have had whispers about too.

I can see the benefit of doing some DODGY DEALS to get the Moldovan song into the final, but is there really ANY BENEFIT AT ALL in trying it in the final when the end result would be a boost of a bout THREE PLACES in the final results :D

I wish I had some examples of these at hand, but I'm too tired to dig through the results. I do recall a jury 12 for Moldova that felt VERY :eyes: - and didn't San Marino get Poland's jury 12 just weeks after Senhit went on a PROMO BLITZ of Polish tv? :D :eyes:

Azerbeijan and Armenia's juries always ranking each other's songs DEAD LAST without fail is the obvious example of ultimate vote RIGGERY - even if it was extremely obvious why they did it.

Found this elsewehere: Russia's televote giving 12 to Cyprus when nobody else other than Greece did is apparently because of a new system the Russians were using. Once you’d cast your initial vote (1-26) to the operator’s short number you received a text message asking you to reply with “1” as a confirmation of your vote. This short number was super clogged during the first 10 minutes of the voting and it worked in very awkward ways. It would sometimes ignore your “1” confirmation and proceed with asking your confirmation again. Which makes me believe a big amount of those initial votes were ignored and those “1”s counted as a vote cast for Cyprus.
Russian viewers only gave 5 points to Cyprus in the SF1.

Well quite, although I've always found it a little tasteless when people on here have been like "throw them both out!'. Are they telling me they'd have thrown Jews out for not quite being willing to judge anything from a Nazi regime entirely on the merits of the music?

Malta's 2004 entrant is low key alleging Destiny's team spent money betting on their own entry and paying bloggers to create hype, so it would become one of the favourites.

If they did, I suspect they hoped it would give them a good draw in the running order. Didn't exactly go to plan though.

lol @ the EBU shamelessly sweeping SHAMELESS CHEATING under the carpet to avoid a media furore :D

Following the release of the full results of Eurovision 2021 there has been speculations that jury groups have exchanged votes with each other. Some of these accusations were aimed at Philipp Kirkorov, Russian TV personality, artist and music producer who has been a songwriter for the Moldovan entry in this year’s Eurovision.

Kirkorov is part of the so-called Dream Team which has been behind a number of successful Eurovision entries over the years, including Ani Lorak’s “Shady Lady” 2008 for Ukraine and Sergey Lazarev’s “You are the only one” from 2016 for Russia. The Dream Team consists of Dimitris Kontopoulos, songwriter and choreographer Fokas Evangelinos and financier and PR expert Ilias Kokotos.

Fans and Eurovision experts have highlight Moldova’s jury score in the semi-finals, receiving 12 points from Greece and Bulgaria. Greece, which also used Philipp Kirkorov and his Dream Team to produce its own competition entry, and Bulgaria, which is Kirkorov’s birthplace. 4 out of 5 jury members in Greece and 5 out of 5 in Bulgaria thought that Natalia Gordienko’s song and performance was the strongest in the semi-finals.

As for the televoting, in their semi-final Moldova received the highest score from the telephone votes in eight countries out of 16 possible: France, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Serbia, San Marino, Greece and Portugal. Speculation has arisen surrounding those 12 points as these countries have a smaller population, making it easier to possibly influence the telephone voting with lower costs.

When taking a look at Moldova’s results in the Grand Final, the country did not get a single point from the telephone votes in Estonia, Latvia, Serbia or Greece, which had given their 12 points to Natalia Gordienko’s entry in its semi final.

The Moldovan jury score has also been highlighted, suggesting that a voting exchange might have taken place. Moldova’s 12 points in the final went to Bulgaria, who gave their 12 points to Moldova in both the semi final and the final. Moldova’s 10 points in the final went to Russia who gave their 12 points to Moldova in the final. Besides, Moldova’s 8 points went to Greece which gave Moldova 12 points in the semis and a 10th in the final.

A spokesperson for the EBU has replied the following:

“All votes from jury groups and the general public in the Eurovision Song Contest have been checked and verified by our voting partner Digame and our auditor EY and we are satisfied that we have a valid result.

Until this year, the names of each juror were made public before the Eurovision final took place. The Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, Martin Österdahl has argued that keeping the identity of the juror’s hidden is necessary “to protect the integrity of the show and to enable them to vote independently without any outside scrutiny or pressure.”

Moldova has placed 13th in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, with scoring 62 points from the televoting and receiving 53 points from the jury.

EBU should make a new rule banning people from being involved on multiple entries in the same year, or being involved repeatedly year after year.

I'm sorry but if your idea of a 'better' Eurovision Song Contest is one where You Are The Only One, DoReDos and Sugar were banned, or G:son, Valentina Monetta, Serhat and Senhit had only been allowed to enter once, you're on crack.

Yes more secrecy is exactly what we need to stop the rumours of corruption :D

If your idea of a complete Eurovision doesn't involve a weird 50-something gay man who looks like a lion with enough plastic surgery/virgins blood in his system to make him look like he's in his late 20s again, celebrating wildly next to the Moldovan or Russian delegation in the Green Room every time their air raid siren vocals are rewarded with an Azeri 12, WE CANNOT TALK

The only successful Eurovision corruption was the Azerbaijani victory in 2011.
That we know... There's always been that rumour that Franco bought the first Spanish victory, and I wouldn't be surprised. But who knows.

Spain really should only have one victory.

And out of that we got the iconic line "I love you Bakuuuuuuuuuuuu" at the end of Euphoria.
Don't forget the second place for HOLD ME, JUST UNFOLD ME! in 2013 :disco:

I'll also argue there were a few behind the scenes WINKS AND NUDGES behind the North Macedonian jury win in 2019 (the EBU really wanted that storyline) and the Italian one in 2011

Why is Moldova even a country? Ban it from Eurovision, give most of it to Romania and hang Kirkorov in public.

EBU not investigating is good news for countries like Azerbaiyan that will probably buy another victory soon. Welcome back to the Land of Fire, girls!

AS IF the EBU would let Azerbaijan host any time soon! :D

I mean, it's pretty pointed that ever since they clamped down on their obvious measures post-2013, they haven't been in the top 5 again since :D
