Award Season 2021/2022

The Oscars are bringing back having a host this year. Hurrah! It's been shit without one and actually slowed down the ceremony.

BAFTAs with a weak line up for best film IMO - https://www.theguardian.com/film/2022/feb/03/bafta-awards-2022-the-full-list-of-nominations

The way that the Best film not in the English language nominees absolutely slay the Best Picture, and Best British Picture categories - and they could have easily added Titane and A Hero to that category too.

Best film not in the English language
Drive My Car
The Hand of God
Parallel Mothers
Petite Maman
The Worst Person in the World

Gags got a nod for House Of Gucci.

Gaga getting in over Coleman is ridiculous. I’m happy for the Passing nominations, I felt it went a bit unseen with Netflix focusing on Power of the Dog.

Also poor Kristen snubbed.

Andrew Garfield was eligible, right? That Best Actor category is ridiculous. Dicaprio, Mahershala Ali and Adeel Akhtar have absolutely NO BUSINESS being there for those films.

The fact that Jessie Buckley got nominated for The Lost Daughter but Colman didn't is just baffling. It'd make more sense if they'd ignored it completely, but she's not even in the top 3 best performances in that movie!

Kristen Stewart's momentum is completely dead now I'd say. She'll be lucky to still even get nominated.

Everything deserves a nod more than Don’t Look Up. I do worry that it will come down to the two populist movies at the Oscar’s (DLU and Belfast) which would be a shame in a year with so many good movies.

As far back as I'd Do Anything it was clear that some people were seeing things in Jessie Buckley that I just couldn't see.

Oh my god THAT's where I know her from :D I kept wondering but the name rang zero bells until you said it!

To be fair she wasn't bad in The Lost Daughter, it's just that her sections didn't work at all. And both Johnson and Coleman were much more enjoyable - I'd say Dakota is the dark horse performance in that film, she's RAW and UNFILTERED yet she still manages to exude STAR quality. A rarity.

I need Gags to win the Oscar just for the audience reaction shots during her speech.

Razzie nominations announced and they have gone to town on the filmed version of the Diana musical. Lots of Worst Acting nominations for people who don’t even have their own Wikipedia pages. Great job punching up and puncturing the inflated egos of Hollywood, guys.

The Razzies can go suck a dick. They’re a relic that tries to stay relevant with less success every year.

Those Bafta noms are BIZARRE!

The razzies were Fun For Halle for about five minutes about 20 years ago. They should nominate themselves for worst awards show and retire.

Drinking your tears.

I am waiting, anticipating

Oop Judi took Catriona’s spot, I knew it

I still don’t understand why Moopy decided that Jessie Buckley is the devil

That’s Branagh’s sixth nomination ever - all in different categories.

Kirsten and Jesse Plemons both got their first nominations as a couple
