Jay Aston to stand as MP for Brexit Party

Oh noes

And we all though Crudge was the bigger cunt!

This may be enough to make me side with Bobby Gee's Bucks Fizz

“I’ve joined the party because I believe in democracy for the sake of the people.
Last year I had time to reflect on things and I was shocked at the way parliament were behaving.
The Brexit Party has so much to offer if you can see through project fear.
I believe we can thrive once we have left. I’m hoping to talk to relative music and arts organizations in the coming weeks
to hear their concerns .
I realize I will lose friends over this but I believe this country needs to uphold the democratic wish of 17.4 million people.

A message from Cheryl & Mike

Hi guys,
Aren’t we lucky that we live in a democracy where we can live freely, love freely and vote for political parties we believe represent our ideals best? Mike and Cheryl are proud of Jay standing for her beliefs, whether we agree with them or not. We hope you offer her the same freedom.

Cheryl & Mike

P.S. You will be hearing from Jay very soon

Watching the assorted loons having a breakdown over the whole thing from both sides on the Facebook fan groups is fun enough to make up for this SORRY MESS

Yes, I'm following without trying to get too caught up in it.

I'm going to give it a couple of days just to see if there is anything else of note and then leave, though.

Mike: Quick REET, get SHELLEY on the PHONE!

Oh you know Reet is RUTHLESS. If this totally fucks them over, she'll ditch Jay as quickly as she did Shelley when Jay agreed to come back in the first place. Then she'll be on the phone to Bobby G and his wife. Back again as a four piece with three original members, AND the rights to the name.

Perhaps someone would like to tweet Jay a link to this thread to let her know she’s got all our support :disco:

I’m amazed how many people are defending her. Not just the leavers either- “politics shouldn’t enter music”. Sorry, but if you’re aligning yourself with Farage and Tommy Robinson, I’ve no choice but to tell you to fuck off...

I'd like to see her justify it. Not so much the Brexit part really (we've heard it all before), but standing for a party which openly espouses racism and homophobia.

I think (not sure to be honest, but I'll try) I can get my head around separating the art and the artist to an extent, at least when it comes to personal views, but fucking standing for that party?!

For the people supporting her I just don't know how you can get past it, unless you either agree with her, or are utterly stupid. But that's obviously my intolerance, isn't it?

I think the average Fizz fan in those groups isn’t the brightest spark in the box.

What gets me is that they must have known the reaction- people went pretty mental when they were going to do that pro- Brexit gig a few years ago. Surely that was a signpost?

I’ve had to leave the groups now anyway- it has been just a constant source of annoyance.

I'm enjoying all those who can confirm she's a lovely person, because she smiled at them once and a meet and greet they paid twenty quid for.

:D

I think mine are the “politics has nothing to do with music crowd”, missing the irony of that statement entirely...

Thank goodness it's only ropey old Jay Aston and Brexit. If it was Kylie coming out against the NHS or something I think I'd have a stroke.
