Unlike Fantasy or Honey, Mariah is hardly the ringleader of enthusiasm here. She takes too long to take command of her own track.

In all fairness, this could be 10 minutes of Mariah laughing on top of a funky instrumental and I'd probably be in heaven. This is a much less rigid, more spontaneous sounding moment. If radio were in her favour as it once was I'd have had this down as a hit. Jazzy and dreamy, I'm here for it.

One of her most beautiful melodic starts to a song. A schmaltzy, after-hours Vanishing of sorts, initially anyway. I always expect the next thing I hear to be "loving yoooooouuu". I definitely did not appreciate this at the time.

I think it's not meant to be too polished though. You can FEEL the ANGST.
