The Immaculate Collection has been certified 13x Platinum in the UK
The Super Bowels & MDNA Tour ticket bundle effectThe way MDNA has a higher chart position than TIC and ROL…
Yes, hence outsharted rather than outcharted. It has? Looks like it was lower every single week but clung on to #74
I've done some drilling down into the Spotify figures.
45% of streams come from CD1 tracks
32% from CD2
23% from CD3
Those figures are from new streams since the album was released.
But the whole issue of the '48 million streams' for the album they claimed the first week which pissed me off in the other thread, really is utter bullshit. Nearly three quarters of those streams are for three mixes only (Celebration, GMAYL and GGW), all of which I believe have been available on Spotify for years.
Even now including all the streams for every track since release, the streams from those three mixes prior to the album's release are being counted as two thirds of the album's total streams. It's ludicrous!
It's not Madonna's team claiming that. It's her instagram fan pages. That's actually fraudulent marketing. I don't think anyone understands the industry enough or cares enough to raise the alarm but you cannot claim 48 million streams for the album - it's just not true. It's not how albums work.
Maybe they'll overhaul it at some point, which is often what happens, it just requires someone to set a precedent and put in a complaint. But yeah, it's ludicrous.
Not really. She's doing better than most of her '80s peers. I don't know where you're getting your figures from? There's still something fundamentally wrong how she's transcended over into the streaming era. Most of her contemporaries are way ahead of her. She's closer in numbers to her 70s counterparts, not her 80s and 90s peers. As the biggest female pop star of all time, I'd say her performance on Spotify is comparatively shit. And I can't actually put a pin on it.

I'm not saying she's doing great on Spotify but her streaming numbers are consistently better than Whitney, Mariah (outside of Christmas season), Celine etc.
If I had to rank, I would say:
1. 90s
2. 80s
*gap*
3. 00s
*bigger gap*
4. 10s
*even bigger gap*
5. 20s - I know it's early days, but so far it's been a scary hot mass
The lack of comma between “hits” and “90s” meant I took quite a long time to get that and was about to argue how her monster hits weren’t the 90s at all…80s was the commercial peak and the monster hits
90s was the artistic peak. There were some peaks and troughs commercially but creatively she was giving.
So I'd go 90s.
