TV Ratings 2022

The Masked Singer viewing figures going up week on week is very pleasing. Up 1.3 million on the season premiere a few weeks ago.

Interesting looking at the figures for The Tourist again. Nearly 7 million of that figure was iPlayer viewing rather than linear broadcast. And 5 million of those were ahead of broadcast.

I am going to sit down to The Responder on BBC1 just now. I haven’t heard anything about it so am going in with no preconceptions.

I got halfway through the first episode and decided to have a bath.

I watched all of it and wish I'd bailed early as well. Definitely a bit below Maxine though Alison Steadman doing the wicked matriarch was one highlight.

Probably of interest to @Rita, because I know you were concerned by the dip of Call The Midwife's first (Christmas Day) episode getting only 4.72m in the overnights, although that increased to 7.685m after a week. It increased further to 8.728m after 28 days, just a squeak behind Death In Paradise's 8.762m. That makes it the #1 of Christmas Day overall, and #2 of the week.

The Responder fell from 7.4m for the first episode to 4.9m for the second, so I imagine it will drop heavily next week.

ITV must be disappointed with those figures for The Bay. I think it must be unlikely we'll get a 4th series.

EastEnders would be #24 with 3.787m, just behind Ant & Dec's Limitless Win with 3.890m. That must be seen as a real flop for them.

I really enjoyed The Responder. The whole season was available to view after the first episode.

I watched the first two seasons of The Bay and they were both alright. None of them were GREAT in my opinion, and haven’t bothered with season 3 yet.

A bit of a DIP for episode 2 of Trigger Point although still very impressive in this current climate.

That episode 2 figure includes pre-transmission viewing though, so it seems people did just choose not to watch it.

That is disappointing. I was hoping for a second series.

Thats terrible for DOI too

I am sure it has been said every year since it came back but they must be thinking about pulling the plug? I do think this is shaping up to be a relatively good run, though the shambles of last year can't be helping matters.

I don't think the first episode was the best, but halfway through both The Responder and Trigger Point I would definitely take the former.

Unable to give exact figure for EastEnders again, as one episode dipped out of top 50 programmes. Best case scenario it has 3.679m at #24.

Call The Midwife UP (or other stuff down more).

That isn't great for Chloe is it? A BBC One drama launch beaten by a Channel 5 effort.

Doesn't strike me as great for Chloe, no. But to be honest I never thought it appeared that commercial from the trailers, and it doesn't have a particularly strong pedigree in terms of writer or cast to hook people in.

The Bay dropped out the chart with 3.787m. I'm not particularly a fan of Morven Christie, but replacing her hasn't worked. But then I don't think either the main plot or the lead character's family plot are as strong this series as the previous two.

I'll be interested to see how both do when the 28 day figures come around. I'm wondering if Chloe particularly may get a significant boost then.

Yes it may do as you definitely would expect Chloe to appeal much younger than the typical 9pm Sunday night BBC One drama.

I thought this run of The Bay started out well enough but the last couple of episodes have dragged. The reboot obviously hasn't appealed anyway.

FANTASTIC figures for The Teacher with it being on Channel 5. I thought it was mostly great but wasn’t keen on the ending.

@lolly did Starstruck perform on Saturday? I am thinking NOT as it was pretty terrible.

I haven’t bothered with Chloe yet. Is it worth watching?

Also YAY at Call The Midwife being number one on the chart, even if it has shed a few hundred thousand viewers from the week before. My absolute FAVOURITE.

As a BONUS EXTRA, this is the top ten in terms of catch up viewing only

01 Trigger Point 2.478m
02 Death In Paradise 2.452m
03 The Apprentice 2.134m
04 Teacher 1.995m
05 Chloe 1.539m
06 The Bay 1.510m
07 Call The Midwife 1.356m
08 The Good Karma Hospital 1.186m

The seven-part singing contest opened with a huge inheritance of 8m (46%) from the closing minutes of The Masked Singer final.

It was unable to maintain this crowd, holding onto around 4.5m (29%) in its opening moments before slipping steadily to close with 3.6m (25%).
