There’s quite a few people that don’t feel sorry for him but say there isn’t anyone better to take overIs the public (and conservative voters) still mostly against Boris or do they see him as a victim to some kind of plot?
Approaching spectacular unpopularity albeit there will always be a core support (got Brexit done etc.). Party slightly better off than Johnson himself. Voting intention polls are very poor but the underlying areas (trust, issue specific) are even worse. Is the public (and conservative voters) still mostly against Boris or do they see him as a victim to some kind of plot?

So many! Size of the government payroll is astonishing. I guess it buys loyalty (for so long)So many (no doubt handsomely paid) Mickey Mouse roles in Government. And I thought I worked in a bloated environment!
He never was as popular as his majority suggested. The majority was largely due to people voting to 'get Brexit done'. But when you have a sense of entitlement like he's had all his life, you're not going to see that. It’s almost fascinating how they managed to fuck this up despite having a big majority.
Does he need it? Isn't it back to being entirely within his gift again when the next GE is? Is there a process for Parliament to block him if he calls one now that the Fixed Term Parliaments act is gone?Would he even have the support to do it?
Even if Parliament could block it, you have to think they wouldn't. All the opposition parties would vote for a General Election and Johnson will surely have enough squeaking loyalists left to take it over the line.Does he need it? There was talk last week that Boris might try to trigger a GE himself as a nuclear option to cling to power. I wonder if that’s more likely now? Would he even have the support to do it?
It certainly doesn’t seem like he’s going to go willingly.
It's perhaps hard to see it now after so much shit has happened but remember this thread was originally called "The Boris Johnson days (or weeks)". I think anyone who was more than just a passing voter who could have fallen for his charisma could have told you there was no way he was going to be able to hold a Government together, his previous history told you everything you needed to know about the kind of PM he was going to be.
The only way, would be for The Queen to refuse his dissolution request. It’s a bit of a grey area (thanks to this government) if it was clear most MPs were against it and would be a constitutional crisis.Does he need it? Isn't it back to being entirely within his gift again when the next GE is? Is there a process for Parliament to block him if he calls one now that the Fixed Term Parliaments act is gone?
Didn't David Davis give one?Javid is going to give a resignation statement to the house after PMQs I can’t remember the last time someone did this.
Is he going to attempt to Howe the prime minister?
